Artist's Comments

The mother of the earth, Gaia.

Watercolors
Size: 4.5 inches x 10.5 inches

Originally I started this piece to practice some of the techniques from 's tutorial, but ultimately this turned out to be something very different than what I had planned. The more I screwed up and played with different ways to fix it, the more I loved it and the more it felt like 'me.' Sometimes that's just what art is to me, a happy, accidental mess. :)

Check out 's website for her great watercolor tutorial.

Hehe, that's watercolors? It almost looked like pencil in the scan! Very pretty and stylized. I love the warm glowy lighting too.

It's the paper I used. It had a fairly smooth surface, but for some reason when the colors dried the paper gave them a fuzzy look. T_T It drove me crazy while I was working on it, but as I neared completion I stoped caring. I may not use that type of paper again, though. Bleh. -_-

I also like the soft, glowy feel of this. Watercolours (at least for me) are very difficult to control, which makes this especially impressive.

Aw, but I like it! ^_^; And cute avatar made from it!

I dislike you so much for you ability to water color. I absolutley suck at them. Great job.

P.S. I saw this link on Gaia.

Lovely work on this! The coloring is wonderful, and I especially love how bright the yellow is. Beautiful.

Reality is not where your body is, but where your mind is... be it on paper or in dreams.
